What is mjengoPay?
mjengoPay is construction payroll and workforce management software built for Kenya. Construction companies use it to track site attendance, compute daily, piecework, or visit-based wages, pay workers in bulk, and pay materials suppliers — with approvals and a permanent audit trail on every payment. "Mjengo" is Swahili for a construction site.
Who is mjengoPay for?
General contractors, subcontractors, and property developers in Kenya who pay casual construction workers (vibarua) and site staff — especially where paydays are currently run in cash. It works for a single residential build up to multi-site commercial portfolios.
How do workers get paid?
Wages accrue from verified attendance at the rates you set. On payday, finance reviews and approves the payroll run, and mjengoPay pays every worker at once, directly to the phone they already have — on the payment platforms Kenyan workers actually use, like M-Pesa. Nobody can be paid twice for the same run; the system guarantees it.
Do workers need a smartphone or the app?
No. Workers need nothing except the phone they already have. Attendance is recorded by the foreman or supervisor, and wages arrive directly on the worker’s phone.
How does mjengoPay stop ghost workers?
Attendance only counts when mjengoPay is satisfied that the right worker was genuinely on site — identity confirmed, presence confirmed. Combined with checks that flag unusual patterns before payroll, ghost workers and buddy punching are caught before any money moves.
Can mjengoPay confirm workers are actually on site?
Yes. mjengoPay can ensure attendance is only recorded for workers who are physically present at the site, so records reflect reality — not what someone wrote from across town.
Can mjengoPay pay materials suppliers?
Yes. Suppliers and contractors are paid the way they prefer, payments can be tied to confirmed deliveries, and every release requires approval — no single person moves money alone.
What wage types does mjengoPay support?
Daily rates, piecework, and visit-based pay — the ways Kenyan construction workers are actually paid. Wages are computed automatically from verified attendance. Statutory deductions are supported where companies need them.
How much does mjengoPay cost?
